Project: Riparian Strategy + Action Program |
![]() The Riparian Strategy defines a long-term vision for how riparian areas are managed within Calgary. Our project role included research, content development, facilitation, communication, education and engagement subject matter expertise as well as issues management.
To inform the work, Amber conducted an audit of similar Corporate documents and riparian and biodiversity strategies from other regions, interviews with subject matter experts and an extensive review of literature related to riparian area ecosystem services, policies, and existing provincial and municipal reports. As part of the framework development, Andrea and Amber facilitated a workshop with the project team to articulate priorities and strategies and informed the third-party consultant’s stakeholder engagement process. Working closely with the project team, Amber developed the strategy document and guided it through stakeholder review and editing. Importantly, Amber and Andrea developed the Connecting Calgarians goals and supporting strategies, as well as the engagement section of the document. Andrea also supported the client to develop key messages, analyze risk and manage issues related to preparing the Strategy for presentation to the Standing Policy Committee on Utilities and Customer Service. More recently, this work has continued with the development of the Strategy’s companion implementation plan, the Riparian Action Program. Amber’s role has included content strategy and development, facilitation, subject matter expert interviews and working with Communications to inform graphic design. |
